Minor Compromises

God is not too small that He cannot restore you.

Written by Jacob Crouch | Monday, March 10, 2025

Don’t be deceived, these minor compromises lead to bigger and bigger compromises. The devil is smart, and he knows that those little sins are the gateway to major failures. Praise God that we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

“Behold, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one. Let me escape there–is it not a little one?–and my life will be saved!”

Genesis 19:20

“It is a little one.” I’m curious how many major unfaithfulnesses begin with that statement. A small sin. A minor compromise. “It’s really not a big deal,” we tell ourselves. “I can put this in the back room of my heart. It’s out of sight. No one will ever know. I’ll only bring it out on special occasions and always in secret. Is it not a little one?” How many times has this lie been told? It may seem like an insignificant compromise, but its end is the way of death.

These minor compromises do not stay minor. Jesus outlines this principle very clearly: “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much” (Luke 16:10). You may think it is small, but in reality it is the seed of sin that buries deep in the heart and begins to put roots down. It may seem innocuous for a while, but sooner or later that little compromise is going to cause death and decay. “Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death” (James 1:15).

What are the minor compromises?
