Living Hope PCA in Chicago Damaged from Fire in Their Building

The church building caught fire from one of our apartments above the ministry space.

Written by Brad Beier | Wednesday, August 4, 2021

One apartment burned significantly. The apartment above that one has damaged but much of it was spared from what I can tell at a distant look from the backside. The other two apartments were separated by a brick wall and only smell like smoke but there’s no apparent damage in those.

Brad Beier, pastor Living Hope PCA in Chicago, posted this on his Facebook page: As we were gathering for Bible study, something very difficult happened tonight. Our church building caught fire from one of our apartments above the ministry space.

Thankfully, everyone was able to get out of the building. One of our tenants and members of the church was burned and is in severe pain, but was still conscious and able to walk out of the building with assistance. He’s at the hospital now.

The church ministry space will have significant water damage in the main gathering room and conference room but thankfully the sanctuary looks like it’s in pretty good shape still.

We are ending our six-week summer camp two days early and this fire happened also three days before our summer intern and his family were going to move back to California. Thankfully, all of the tenants have generous church members opening their homes and we are grateful for all of the support and notes and prayers everyone is sending so far.

This is a humbling experience but I’m feeling very supported by the grace of God and the love of his people.

Pray for the Pastor Beier and the Living Hope congregation that God’s grace will be sufficient for them as they work through the issues before them
