Ligonier Hosts Conference in America’s Capital to Address ‘Being a Christian in a Post-Christian Culture’

Written by Staff | Sunday, August 29, 2010

Ligonier Ministries, the teaching fellowship of Dr. R.C. Sproul, will hold its regional conference in our nation’s capital September 17-18, 2010.

Speakers Dr. Albert Mohler, Dr. R.C. Sproul Jr., Rev. Thabiti Anyabwile, and Rev. Burk Parsons will address the topic “Being a Christian in a Post-Christian Culture” at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, Maryland.

“We want to help believers learn how to live out the implications of the gospel in this present culture,” explains Dr. R.C. Sproul. “Our topics will focus on themes such as the Christian’s relationship to culture, Christ’s promise of success to the church, the eclipse of God, and the dangers of statism. I hope you will join us.” (Dr. Sproul will join the conference via remote live video from Ligonier’s studio in Orlando.)

“We are living in a post-modern, post-Christian age. All around us are signs that the world has changed and is being transformed before our very eyes. How are Christians to remain faithful in a world that is losing even its memory of biblical Christianity? This much is clear — it’s going to require the most faithful and biblical Christian thinking. That’s why I am so glad that Ligonier Ministries is presenting this conference in the nation’s capital. This is the right time and the right place for us to ask these crucial questions. Join me in for this important conference as we get right to work at the task of Christian thinking for these times.” – R. Albert Mohler Jr.

The conference will be held at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 5500 River Road, Bethesda, Maryland – a mere 19 minutes or 7.2 miles from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

“It is, according to the Scripture, the fool who says in his heart there is no God. Which means in turn that we live in a foolish culture, a foolish age. Our calling, now more than ever, is to live and proclaim the very wisdom of God. When God is denied, with Him goes all goodness, all truth, all beauty. When God is declared, with Him is made known all goodness, all truth, all beauty. And against such the gates of hell will not prevail.” – R.C Sproul, Jr.

Ligonier Ministries has been hosting regional, national, and church leadership conferences all over the U.S. since 1988. More than 100,000 people have attended these conferences to fellowship with other believers and explore biblical truths of a particular theme or issue.
