Let Your Speech be Full of Christ

The tongue can build up or destroy, harm or heal, lie or love.

Written by Jacob Crouch | Saturday, December 7, 2024

When you are wondering how to encourage the suffering saint, let your speech be full of Christ. Remind them of His suffering, and His glory. Remind them of His promise to restore. Remind them of His excellent priesthood. Remind them that He can sympathize with their weaknesses, and that He always lives to make intercession for them.

…I want you to insist on these things…

Titus 3:8

What we say matters. Our speech can be filled with grace and seasoned with salt (Col 4:6), or it can be “a world of unrighteousness” (James 3:6). It can give grace to those who hear (Eph 4:29), or it can be like the thrusts of a sword (Prov 12:18). The tongue can build up or destroy, harm or heal, lie or love. I want to give you a simple encouragement: Let your speech be full of Christ.
