How Can I Find Peace with all the Recent Crisis?

How Can I Find Peace with all the Recent Crisis?

Written by Kevin Carson | Saturday, July 26, 2025

Trust God as Your Refuge and Strength. God is not distant – He is Immanuel, God with us, through Jesus Christ. Just as He sustained Israel in battle and brought joy like a river to His city, He is close to you, offering His strength and peace to you as well. Jesus promised, “I am with you always” (Matt 28:20).

The past few weeks have been filled with news of devastating destruction. The Texas flooding alone would be enough; yet there have been more. The question we answer today is, “How can I find peace with all the recent crisis?” The good news is that you can be encouraged and uplifted by the timeless truths of Psalm 46, which reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (v. 1). This powerful passage speaks to us today, offering us hope and assurance no matter what challenges we face. Let us look at the text itself and then explore how God’s presence can transform our perspective and fill us with unshakable confidence.

Psalm 46

1.Resting in God’s Presence During Natural Crises (vv. 1-3)

Life can feel overwhelming at times – natural disasters, personal challenges, or moments when everything seems to unravel. Psalm 46:1-3 assures us that God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. The psalmist explains, even if the mountains quake or the seas roar, we do not need to fear. God’s presence is a safe haven – a place of peace no matter the chaos. Wherever you are today, take comfort: God is with you, and He is stronger than any storm.

2.Security in God’s Presence Amid Political Turmoil (vv. 4-7)

Further, in a world filled with political division and uncertainty, it is easy to feel anxious. Yet, the psalmist in Psalm 46:4-7 paints a vivid picture of God’s city, where His presence flows like a life-giving river, bringing joy and security. No matter the threats – whether global conflicts or personal struggles – God protects His people. He is our fortress, and the Lord of hosts is with us (v. 7). Let this truth anchor you: God’s presence is your ultimate security.
