The Board of Trustees of Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary announces the appointment of a Presidential Search Committee to commence the search for a successor to its current president, Dr. Joseph A. Pipa, Jr., who has served the Seminary with distinction since his appointment on January 1, 1998 and who will retire from the office of President on July 1, 2021.
The Presidential Search Committee will be chaired by Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees RE Joseph H. Fowler of Grace Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Douglasville, GA, and its remaining members are TE Carl D. Robbins of Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Simpsonville, SC; TE Daniel Jarstfer of Christ Our Hope Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Charlestown, RI; RE Frank W. Aderholdt, Jr. of First Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Hattiesburg, MS; and RE James P. Higgins of Reformation Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Virginia Beach, VA. Professor of Biblical Studies, TE Dr. L. Michael Morales, Ph.D. joins the Committee as a representative of the Faculty of the Seminary.
With respect to the formation of the Committee and its charge to seek a successor to Dr. Pipa, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. C. Fredric Marcinak, III, stated that “The members of the Board, the faculty, and staff of the Seminary, the distinguished alumni of this institution, and the current student body are deeply indebted to Dr. Pipa for his years of extraordinary service and tireless devotion to the cause of Christ and the advancement of confessional Christian education in our day. In an era of declining devotion to the Word of God and its proclamation from pulpits across America, ‘Dr. P,’ as he is affectionately known, has boldly planted the flag for the Reformed faith in America. He is loved and appreciated, and he will be long remembered as a bold, gifted, and capable leader. We are thankful that Dr. Pipa has agreed to remain at the seminary as a professor, author, and mentor to future generations of seminary students even after he retires from the presidency.”
Please be in prayer for the Committee as it undertakes its duties. Pray that the Lord would bless their labors and that He would raise up a man gifted and graced for the work of the Seminary.
