Gospel Reformation Network Pre-PCA Assembly Conference to be Held June 17-18, 2013

The theme will be, “What Grace Does: Reclaiming the Whole Gospel for the Whole Man.”

Written by Staff | Thursday, May 2, 2013

One of the goals of the GRN is to clarify the nature of the sanctification as it has been taught, written about, and addressed over the last couple of decades.  One member of the organizing committee noted, “We want to deal with the issue pastorally, exegetically, and theologically, not polemically; this is a time to educate the church on this topic so we can all grow up into maturity in Christ.

The Gospel Reformation Network (GRN) will hold its second conference on June 17 – 18, 2013 in Greenville, S.C., in conjunction with the meeting of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The conference will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 105 River Street in Greenville. The theme will be, “What Grace Does: Reclaiming the Whole Gospel for the Whole Man.”

The GRN developed out of a meeting that was held at Knoxville in 2011 to discuss the nature of sanctification.  The participants in this meeting desired to recapture and reclaim a biblical understanding of sanctification compatible with the teaching in the doctrinal Standards of the (PCA), which they perceived was being lost and not being taught in it full integrity.

The debate, definitions and discussion about the role of God’s law and God’s grace, legalism and antinomianism are as old as church history.  Every generation of the church has wrestled with these issues, and is it now a matter of discussion in our time.

Speakers at the conference include: Harry Reeder, Ligon Duncan, Rick Phillips, and Al Baker. Seminars will be led by Jim Barnes, Dominic Aquila, Chris Robins, and Jon Payne.
