From ‘plankowner’ student, to alumni, to parent: welcoming new generations at a Christian School

Written by Staff | Monday, October 19, 2009

When Dale Smith, Pastor of Colleyville Presbyterian Church (PCA), first started thinking about starting a Christian school, did he dream about his future grandchildren attending or just about providing a Christian education for his children?

Either way, his dreams did come true as all four of his children graduated from CCA. His oldest daughter, Catherine Smith Arnold, was in the first graduating class, and now her children are CCA students. The three Arnold boys enjoy being under the watchful care of their grandmother Mrs. Anne Smith, Grammar School Head.

Stephanie Hackler Barfnecht, class of 1998, has enrolled her daughter Grace in the first grade. Stephanie and her husband Blake say that having Grace at Covenant is an answer to their prayers.

“When Grace was born, we had a conversation about what our goal was for her education. At that time, it seemed CCA would be an unreachable goal, yet the Lord has provided for our family and desired us to be back in the CCA family! We know that at CCA the teachers will continue to foster her desire to learn more about God’s world and, at the same time, work to establish in her a biblical worldview. Grace will be able to continue the work that Covenant will establish in her long after she leaves the school.”
