Fellowship of Christian Athletes and an Alabama PCA Church partner in Sports Camp

Written by Shannon J. Allen | Saturday, June 26, 2010

“I think there’s over 100 students invested in personally by church members just to get there. They wouldn’t have been able to come without a scholarship.”

Ken Burnett became Northeast Alabama director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes six years ago.

As soon as he learned of the Grace Fellowship Sports Camp, he knew he wanted to become involved.

“I came over the first year and just emptied water coolers and emptied trash,” Burnett said.

“It was just such a joy to be able to do that with the camp, and I felt just as much a part then as I do now.”

Burnett’s leadership enabled the FCA to partner with Grace Fellowship Presbyterian (PCA) Church to sponsor the camp, which completed its seventh season last week.

“This church just does such a great job of making it a mission for the entire church,” he said. “The entire church is just all in and does it together.

“A lot of people don’t know they give so much financially as well as time, sweat, tears and blood to make this possible.

Burnett helped coordinate the FCA huddles for the 2010 camp. There were 52 huddles this year, and some of them featured two leaders.
