Evangelical Presbyterian’s ‘New Wineskins’ Convocation to focus on being missional

Written by The Layman | Sunday, August 22, 2010

The sixth New Wineskins Association of Churches Convocation is set for Sept. 26-28 at Windwood Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas.

Nationally-known missions expert Reggie McNeal will be the featured speaker, with prominent attorney Lloyd Lunceford also speaking on church property issues.

Under the theme “Equipping Saints for Missional Ministry,” the plenary sessions will focus on missions, spiritual warfare, property issues and the worldwide church.

Reggie McNeal
As missional leadership specialist for the Leadership Network in Dallas, McNeal is a speaker, teacher and consultant to local church, denomination and para-church leadership groups throughout North America. He will speak Sunday evening and Monday morning at the event.

Among his books are A Work of the Heart: Understanding How God Shapes Spiritual Leaders and Present Future: Six Tough Questions for the Church. His latest book, Missional Renaissance: Changing the Scorecard for the Church describes the three shifts that church leaders must make to engage the missional movement and offers suggestions for a different “‘scorecard” to reflect a focus on missional ministry in the local church.

McNeal’s past experience involves more than a decade as a denominational executive and leadership development coach. He also served in local congregational leadership for more than 20 years, including being the founding pastor of a new church. He has lectured or taught as adjunct faculty for multiple seminaries, including Fuller Theological in Pasadena, Calif.; Southwestern Baptist in Ft. Worth, Texas; Golden Gate Baptist in San Francisco; Trinity Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill; and Columbia International in Columbia, S.C.
