Eastern Pennsylvania Presbytery Votes Against BCO 14 Amendments

Written by Staff | Saturday, September 25, 2010

On Saturday, September 25, 2010, Eastern Pennsylvania Presbytery voted not to approve the proposed BCO 14 amendments.

Eastern Pennsylvania reported the following voting results:

BCO 14-1: 11 yes, 15 no, and 3 abstentions.

BCO 14-2: 11 yes, 15 no, and 3 abstentions.

These amendments, if approved, would change the way the PCA General Assembly determines voting membership. Churches, teaching elders and Presbyteries would be required to pay an annual registration fee that would go to support the work of the Administrative Committee, which includes the office of the Stated Clerk.

The total number of Presbyteries voting as of this date is 2 for the amendments and 5 against.

For the amendments to be adopted, two-thirds of the 79 Presbyteries must approve the amendments (i.e., 53), as well as being approved by the 39th General Assembly.
