Dwight Linton Funeral and Memorial Service Scheduled – UPDATE

Detailed plans for both the funeral and memorial service for Dwight Linton are now in place. Funeral and burial will be in Black Mountain, NC on Saturday with the Memorial Service still scheduled for Monday at Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian, Flowry Branch, GA (near Gainesville). Full obituary notice is below

Rev. Thomas Dwight Linton, Sr., 82, of Rock Hill passed away Monday, January 11, 2010.

Rev. Linton was born December 4, 1927 in Korea where he served as a Missionary from 1953 to 1978. He moved to Gainesville, GA where he resided for twenty years before moving to Rock Hill three years ago. Rev. Linton was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rock Hill.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Charlotte Bell Linton.

Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marjory Potter Linton; daughters, Beth Arms (Peter) of Gainesville, GA and Linda Cass (Jim) of Monrovia, CA; sons, Tom Linton (Ruth) of San Jose, CA, Chuck Linton (Lori Leinbach) of Southborough, MA and Sam Linton (Yvonne) of Sunnyvale, CA; 11 grandchildren, Robyn, Phillip and Leah Arms, Jim and Jeana Cass, Brian and Mark Kelly, Kyle, Nicolas, Will and Charlotte Linton; two great grandchildren, Caitlynn and Clair.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals, 208 W. State St., Black Mountain. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church, Gainesville, GA.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
