Death is the Ultimate Perspective

What gardens have we been given to tend, water, harvest, and protect? This is what matters most.

Written by Zachary Conover | Monday, June 29, 2026

Death is coming for us all. But be encouraged. God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation. Let us live ready to meet the Lord, with faith working in love.

Death reminds us what matters most.

It jolts us out of our routines and shakes us awake from our lethargic slumber. Most effectively, it takes our focus off of ourselves and our problems which seem so consuming.

Death is the ultimate perspective.

It brings to our memory the often forgotten fact that time is limited. One day, we will live the last day we were destined to live. We will wake up for the last time. Go to bed for the last time. Kiss our kids for the last time. Eat our last meal. Get dressed one more time, and a million other unconscious choices we make every day.

When someone in our circle passes on, our worries suddenly don’t seem so threatening. We tend to slow down and begin operating with a sense of purpose.

This life isn’t all there is. There’s something else coming that makes these moments in time feel small compared to what will last forever.

Maybe death has the ability to focus our minds because it reminds us that how we spend our hours counts before the eyes of heaven. We get lost in the illusion that we’re just going to be granted tomorrow and that the Lord won’t demand our lives.
