Crown & Covenant Publications Releases Digital Resources for Psalm Singing

Written by Shelley Davis | Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Also in the works is a new iPhone application, developed specifically to support
The Book of Psalms for Worship

Over the past year, Crown & Covenant Publications has released a range of digital support materials for the new Book of Psalms for Worship. These new products aim to make the singing of psalms in personal, family or corporate worship both easy and enjoyable.

The Digital Psalter: A Psalter without Paper
For those with full pew racks or who prefer projection machines, Crown & Covenant is now offering a yearly digital license edition of The Book of Psalms for Worship to churches.

The product license allows each congregation reproduction use of The Book of Psalms for Worship for one calendar year. The yearly fee is based on congregational size, ranging from $50 for a church of twenty-five members to $450 for a congregation of one thousand or more.

The license includes both the music and words-only editions of The Book of Psalms for Worship, excluding a few musical arrangements that are licensed by others. The PDFs are available for immediate download after purchase. The material may be used for formal and informal worship times, overhead/screen projections, bulletin inserts, Sabbath School, VBS, special events involving members (weddings, funerals, etc.) and Bible studies.

Psalter.org: Three Psalters’ Worth of Tunes
Another helpful digital resource for the musically minded (and the musically impaired) is the recently revamped psalter.org. This site supports all three psalters published by Crown & Covenant: The Book of Psalms for Worship, The Book of Psalms for Singing and The Trinity Psalter. With digital tune libraries, composer information, and three introductory videos about the newest psalter, a visitor can familiarize himself with every tune and psalter. All of the information is in a convenient, one-click, sortable format for easy navigation.

Further available on the site are links to purchasable MP3 choral recordings of many psalms, originally released on CD by Crown & Covenant. One free MP3 download is offered at crownandcovenant.com each month.

The iPhone App: A Big Psalter on Your Little Phone
Also in the works is a new iPhone application. Developed specifically to support
The Book of Psalms for Worship, it will allow the user to play each psalm tune, search the psalter for keywords, and read the verses for any given psalm—all on an Apple phone.

Both newcomers and veterans of psalm singing can benefit from the new digital resources at crownandcovenant.com and psalter.org. It is the desire of Crown & Covenant Publications that these aids will help more Christians experience the blessings of singing these biblical poems that were given by God to be sung, not just read.
