Covenant Presbyterian (PCA) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to break ground on new building

Written by Oak Ridger | Saturday, October 9, 2010

The church is meeting in rented space during the construction period. The church has been a part of the Oak Ridge community for more than 50 years and is pastored by Nick Willborn.

Covenant Presbyterian Church in Oak Ridge will break ground on a 12,000 square foot building project in Commerce Park at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The congregation recently closed on the sale of its 190 Manhattan Avenue building to the House of Worship…

The new building, situated on 22 acres above the intersection of South Illinois Avenue and Bethel Valley Road, will have a commanding view of the primary entrance to Oak Ridge…

The building…will have a traditional appearance and steeple, and its worship hall will seat 250 to 275 people initially, with a future expansion capacity to approximately 400 seats.

“This building is specifically designed to support traditional, simple, Reformed worship,” said Brad Isbell, elder and building committee member. A balcony in the worship hall will add to the building’s traditional feel and large, clear story windows will flood the vaulted portion of the building with light.
