Coffee Break Prayer List from the London Bears

Written by Chris Bear | Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Here is your coffee break prayer list from Chris and Zhenya Bear, church planters in London.

We try to keep it simple enough that you can pray for us on the way to the coffee machine. In our last newsletter we had so much we wanted to tell you about but could not go into detail. Here are the things for which we absolutely need your prayers:

1. The new church plant “Surrey Docks Church” which meets in the Hilton is going well. We’ve been meeting for 4 months now. Please pray for us over the next two months as we are starting to connect with people living in and around this community through leaflet drops, conversations with the locals, and word of mouth.

This church is slightly more family oriented than the other church plant and is focusing on people who see London as more of a long term home. Chris is running both church plants at the moment as Kruger, the other pastor, is in New York for training for six weeks, so please pray Chris, the leaders, and the church are filled with the Holy Spirit and that they are relying on Jesus for their strength.

2. Canada Water Church, the 2 1/2 year old church plant, is moving along as well. The music part of the worship service is an important part of the identity/uniqueness of this church and we lost 10 of our 15 musicians due to job changes or people moving away. We have just started our small groups and have seen a surge in interest. We are using the “Reason for God” book by Tim Keller. Also, at the moment we are trying to connect with the many visitors we have had in the last four months. Please keep praying for our small group leaders, Sunday night services, our four elders in training, our first Super Tuesday coming up, and our retreat on the second weekend in October.

3. Please continue to pray for us financially. Giving for August and September seems to be down quite significantly even though our pledges are still on the mark.

4. Please pray that we don’t get sick as the cold and flu season is starting up… we will pray the same for you!

Thank you,
Chris and Zhenya – The London Bears
