A go-to guy on investments and pensions, Hall helped write the law that governs the state’s investment board and made it independent of politicians. Hall’s background in pensions and investments make him the ideal candidate for a state that really needs a savvy treasurer. West Virginians would benefit from Hall’s expertise.
Recently, Dick Doster, Editor of the PCA’s byFaith Magazine, published an article entitled: Politics: Why Christians Must Be Involved. Mike Hall, a former PCA Pastor in Charleston, entered the political arena in 1996 as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, moved into the State Senate in 2008, and now is seeking his first full time position.
Mike, a long-time member of New River Presbytery (and thus a close friend of the author since 1985), maintains his credentials as a Teaching Elder because the Presbytery uses his skills frequently as an Interim Pastor and active committee member.
The Charleston Daily Mail describes Mike in their endorsement:
Fortunately for the state, Republicans have one really excellent candidate for this office. The Daily Mail endorses Mike Hall, 63, of Winfield.
Hall started out as a Methodist minister, but educated himself in financial services on the side.
In 1994, the Presbyterian Church in America’s agency on insurance, annuities and relief recruited Hall to work with retirement and investment issues for ministers and members. He left the position in 2004 to go into business.
Hall served in the House of Delegates for 12 years before his election to the state Senate in 2008. He has served on many committees, including those on banking and insurance, pensions and retirement, finance, government and finance, and military pensions.
A go-to guy on investments and pensions, Hall helped write the law that governs the state’s investment board and made it independent of politicians. Hall’s background in pensions and investments make him the ideal candidate for a state that really needs a savvy treasurer. West Virginians would benefit from Hall’s expertise.
