Challenges and Opportunities

I don’t know about you, but words like “problems,” “obstacles,” and “resistance,” have a negative overtone for me. It’s not that I can’t use them or that I should resolve not to; it’s just that when I think about them, I’d like to put a more positive spin on things.

Ryan Holiday has written a helpful little book, The Obstacle is the Way, The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph.

As a Christian, it reminds me of what the Apostle Paul said, in I Corinthians 12, about turning difficulties into something positive and working through them, in Christ’s strength.

In The War of Art, Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Creative Battles, and Do The Work, Steven Pressfield discusses resistance. Resistance is what we have to push through to succeed.

All this reminds us of what the Bible teaches about perseverance and pressing on.
