The Modern Roots of “Pagan” Easter
We know that Christians were celebrating the Resurrection of Christ by the 2nd century
“The idea that a lost world of paganism, bubbling under the thin veneer of Christian practices and traditions that had supplanted–even copied–it, had become firmly rooted in popular culture.” In the late nineteenth century, a Cambridge scholar sat at his desk and wove a brilliant story about comparative religious practices. “ALL over Europe,” he... Christians Banned For Simply Being Christian
This is an embarrassing development at Australia’s oldest and formerly most prestigious university
“Even apart from the same thing happening in the US and the UK, it’s not too difficult to imagine a human rights tribunal with time on its hands finding against a Christian school, or even a church, that has the bigoted temerity to require of its members, staff, and clergy that they actually believe the... Open Letter to President Mahama of Ghana
I wanted to welcome you to our country, to apologise for the rudeness you experienced and to explain something about where Scotland.
The trouble is that our liberals believe that we are at the top of the evolutionary tree. We are progressives who have ‘progressed’ further than other countries in the world. We are so convinced of our own morally superior cultural values that we see it as our mission in the world to export these values.... Continue Reading
Christian Groups Fight Scottish Law Giving Every Kid A Government Guardian
Christian and family groups in Scotland are making a last ditch effort to stop implementation of a new law that would assign a state guardian to every child in Scotland.
As part of the new requirements, administrators will ask children questions in school designed to flag situations needing intervention, reporting the results to their named person. Younger children will be asked questions using prompt cards, songs, and activities to assess their home life, according to reporting by the Scottish Mail. Older children will be asked... Can We Have our Civilisation Back? Reflections on What the ‘Inclusive’ SNP Conference of 2016 Teaches Us
Is there any politician anywhere who will stand up for rationality, tolerance and sanity?
“Yes – we have a responsibility to help the confused Gaela’s of this world, but we also have a responsibility to the thousands of children who will be harmed by teaching them the completely false ‘fact’ that they can choose their own gender. “ Imagine the scene. You are a delegate at a packed... Continue Reading
Call It Genocide–Finally
There’s no question Christians are being persecuted in the Middle East. But is it genocide?
On March 14th the House of Representatives voted 393-0 to declare that the “Islamic State’s assaults on religious minorities in Iraq and Syria constitute genocide.” While, as the Washington Post reported, the measure was expected to pass, even its supporters were surprised that it was unanimous. In the mid-1940s, Raphael Lemkin, a Jewish lawyer... Continue Reading
China’s One-Child Policy is Over, But Not Its Culture of Death
If you think China’s communist government is considering the sacredness and dignity of human life, you’d be wrong.
Stop for a minute and think about how this is the reality for women in China no matter their religion nor economic status. Each day nearly 500 Chinese women commit suicide. The correlation between grief and death are unquestionable. And it all starts with government policies deeming life valuable only when commissioned according to necessity.... Continue Reading
Explainer: What You Should Know About The Syrian Civil War
Several countries have used the crisis as a proxy war for their own interest
“Syria, which is about the size of North Dakota, is located north of the Arabian Peninsula at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea. The country is bordered by Turkey on the north, Iraq on the east, Jordan on the south, and Lebanon, Israel, and the Mediterranean on the west.” What is going on... Continue Reading
The Theology of Donald Trump
Four words that reveal what his followers really believe
So when in recent months, it has appeared that Trump appeals to a sizable group of evangelicals, it may be less surprising than all the hoopla suggests. Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr. hailed him as “one of the greatest visionaries of our time” and a wonderful Christian brother “who reminds me of my dad.”... Continue Reading
North Carolina Lawmakers Vow To Kill Charlotte Anti-Bias Bill
North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory vowed to “correct” a sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) ordinance passed in Charlotte, calling it a “misguided government regulation.”
The Charlotte City Council on Feb. 22 expanded the city’s nondiscrimination ordinance by adding sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes. Under the leadership of newly elected Mayor Jennifer Roberts, council passed the changes 7-4. The expanded ordinance forbids discrimination against LGBT persons in all public accommodations, even allowing biological males and females to... Continue Reading
