Doodling in the Sand

Brian McLaren Presides over Same-Sex Commitment Ceremony

Written by Carl Trueman | Friday, September 28, 2012

If that is the case, I think there are many Christians who could immediately relate to his circumstance. It is very difficult when one has a close friend or family member who is gay and who differs with what the Bible teaches about sexual norms.

St Louis Cardinal Manager Mike Matheny’s radical plan for youth baseball

The 'Matheny Manifesto' could be the catalyst to "reinvent youth baseball."

Written by Derrick Goold, Post-Dispatch | Wednesday, September 26, 2012

The role faith plays with the Warriors is clear from their name. It has Christian roots. Their logo is a shield with a cross on it. The team does not choose players based on religion and welcomes a multi-denominational roster. But Warriors coaches must make a spiritual commitment, officials said. "It would be dishonest to say that's not where this whole idea comes from," says Casey Cramer, a former NFL player and student at nearby Covenant Seminary.

Is Tim Tebow a Chauvinist?

Tim Tebow says he wants a wife with “a servant’s heart.” Does that make him a misogynist?

Written by Russell Moore | Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Husbands serve wives. Wives serve husbands. Children serve parents. Parents serve children. Pastors serve churches. Churches serve pastors. That concept might be demeaning in the world of Vogue, but it’s not in a new creation where “the leader is the one who serves” (Lk. 22:26).   Tim Tebow says he wants a wife with “a... Reflections on our recently departed brother-in-the-Lord Bill Gresham

PCA Teaching Elder William B. Gresham, Jr. died on September 14, 2002

Written by Billy Joseph | Tuesday, September 25, 2012

In those early days of RUF in the state of Alabama there was one who did not fit anyone’s image of a campus minister. Bill Gresham.  Bill was equipped to be a campus minister – teaching, pastoring, preaching, faithful, caring.  But he did not fit anyone’s image of a campus minister. Many times as he... Hearing reveals impact of clergy abuse

Southern Baptist evangelist sentenced to 10 years for video voyeurism

Written by Bob Allen, ABP | Monday, September 24, 2012

A graduate of Williams Baptist College and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, Sam Nuckolls served on staff at several churches before entering fulltime itinerant ministry. LifeWay hired Nuckolls as a summer staffer to serve in the role of camp pastor for Centrifuge camps in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2007 his role changed to a contract position, where he served several weeks during the summer preaching at general assemblies and large gatherings. He served in that capacity through the summer of 2011.

His Truth is Marching On

Rousas John Rushdoony and the rise of Christian conservatives.

Written by Chris Smith | Monday, September 24, 2012

A final piece of Rushdoony’s emerging belief system fell into place when he discovered the ideas of Cornelius Van Til (1895–1987). A Calvinist theologian who rejected the modernism that brought Darwin and Enlightenment ideas into the Protestant mainstream, Van Til insisted that man cannot think independently of God, and to try to do so is evil.

Tim Keller’s Disappointing Comments on Homosexuality

Rev. Keller’s remarks do not appear to have been accidental or mistaken but represent settled conviction.

Written by Robert A. J. Gagnon | Sunday, September 23, 2012

What the Academy needs today is men who are fearless in proclaiming sin, righteousness, and the coming judgment in the context of the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ to desperate sinners like us. And these men should normally be those who are followers of Jesus Christ who work on campus; His slaves who can't help but be faithful in speaking of His holiness and mercy in their classrooms, faculty offices, faculty senate meetings, on the walkways from classroom building to classroom building, and so on.

Pope Goes Green with Electric Car

Pope Benedict XVI has a customized white Renault Kangoo for jaunts around the gardens of the papal summer residence at Castel Gandolfo

Written by Nicole Winfield | Friday, September 21, 2012

Benedict has been dubbed the “green pope” for his environmental concerns, which have been a hallmark of his papacy. He has written of the need to protect God’s creation in his encyclicals, and raised the issue on his foreign trips and in his annual peace messages.     Pope Benedict XVI is now a bit... Heisman Trophy and NFL quarterback tells the story of discovering and ultimately going to work with Desire Street Ministries in New Orleans

Written by Danny Wuerffel | Thursday, September 20, 2012

In the aftermath of the storm, a very common sight in New Orleans was a mound of trash piled up on the sidewalk in front of a gutted home. These piles of trash are a daunting spectacle, especially when you pause to consider that, just a few months earlier, each pile of trash was the... Continue Reading

My Journey Toward the “New Evangelicalism”

Cizik's view on why the NAE fired him and where he stands today

Written by Richard Cizik | Wednesday, September 19, 2012

The difficulty, as I see it, is that the evangelical world is unable to tolerate dissent. Unity has become uniformity. Authority cannot be questioned. However, on matters of politics, particularly, which are so subject to personal judgment or prudence, we need to grant some freedom
