The Bleeding of the Evangelical Church

The last 25 years has been a time of many bright highlights, but it was also a time of lengthening shadows in our evangelical world.

Written by David Wells | Thursday, January 5, 2017

Twenty-five years ago, evangelicals were outside the religious establishment. That establishment was made up principally of the mainline denominations. But today evangelicals have become the religious establishments, however informally. But despite this, I believe that today we are in some peril. We have a fight on our hands and what we’re fighting for is our... Continue Reading

Why the Left Hates Tolerance

On the shallowness of left-wing “inclusivity”: The academy has embraced an ethic inimical to its founding principles.

Written by The New Criterion | Thursday, January 5, 2017

Many readers will recall hearing sentences like this: “I disagree with you but support your right to voice your opinion.” How quaint that now sounds! The modern social justice warrior abominates disagreement as a form of heresy. Accordingly, he rejects tolerance in favor of enforced, indeed totalitarian, conformity. It is the antithesis of what a... Continue Reading

Sometimes Saying “No” Is The Right Thing To Do

When I say yes, with no discernment, to every opportunity that comes my way, I am not submitting my time to Him.

Written by Katie Hughes | Wednesday, January 4, 2017

Ask God. This seems obvious, but too often it is easiest to simply act on instinct before we ask God what He would have for us. Different seasons of life bring different opportunities, and believe it or not, God wants us to make the most of our time for our It brings Him pleasure and glory when we invite Him into the details of our decision making.

20 Things in 20 Years

A few thoughts about things I've learned about marriage, myself, and life over the last twenty years

Written by Christina Fox | Wednesday, January 4, 2017

Christ must be the center: We sang the hymn Be Thou My Vision at our wedding ceremony twenty years ago. When we chose the hymn, how little did I know how important having Christ as our vision would be! Christ must be the center of marriage for it to thrive. He must be first. After all, marriage is a reflection of the relationship between Christ and his church. We can't reflect to a watching world who Christ is and what he has done if he is not central.

Ciceronian Time Call for Ciceronian Voices

Thoughtful, learned, literate, historically and philosophically astute, cultured in the true sense of the word, and engaged in the public square.

Written by Carl Trueman | Wednesday, January 4, 2017

To address the present we surely need to avoid the clichéd pieties of political correctness that serve only to bolster special interests. But we must also resist the simplistic populist rhetoric of reaction. We have to address the present by drawing on the history and culture of our past. And we must do so in a public way that calls out those who abuse their power while giving good arguments to those who wish to work for a deeper, greater good than the myopic vision offered by the regnant gospel of immediate gratification.

A Pediatrician Just Laid Out How to Protect Your Child From Sexual Abuse — And She’s Begging You to Listen

I was immediately moved by the excellence of this information and asked if I could re-publish it

Written by Jenny Rapson | Tuesday, January 3, 2017

“Places where I’ve heard of this happening: known family members and friends are far and away the most common. Perpetrators ages ranging from young teens to adults. It is almost always a male cousin, known neighbor, friend’s older brother/cousin, babysitter, father/stepfather, uncle or mom’s boyfriend.”   Recently, a good friend of mine shared a Facebook... Losing a Child Without Losing Faith

Milla suffered and died far too young. God is good and in control. Both are true.

Written by Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra | Tuesday, January 3, 2017

It’s hard to see God’s plan from the deepest shadows of the valley of death, Frazer said. The road has been “hard and frustrating,” but not without “glimpses of beauty around us from time to time. . . . It’s his story to tell, and we trust him.”   Last month, Frazer and Dana Gieselmann... The End of Black Conservatism?

Dr. Sowell’s retirement may mark the beginning of the end of an era of black intellectuals who were champions of political and economic liberty.

Written by Anthony Bradley | Monday, January 2, 2017

The inclusion of pro-life politics into political and economic conservatism inadvertently took the wind out of the sails of many conservative African American scholars who were more concerned with issues of political and economic liberty. For example, black conservatives like Condolezza Rice, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Shelby Steele, John McWhorter, Kiron Skinner, and the like, have never made abortion a key issue.

Sex on the Silver Screen – Outsourcing Depravity

To enjoy entertainment Christians need to hire people who disregard religious and ethical laws. We let them violate these law so we can enjoy the benefits.

Written by Tim Challies | Sunday, January 1, 2017

At the end of our scenario, this is what we need to consider: When we watch sex on the silver screen, we are asking unbelievers to behave in ways we would never tolerate among ourselves. Yet we tolerate it so we can enjoy entertainment we otherwise couldn’t enjoy. We outsource our depravity so we can live... Continue Reading

Remember the Christian Bakers

Liberals have suddenly become champions of people being allowed to decline participating in something if it violated their conscience.

Written by Tammy Bruce | Sunday, January 1, 2017

Surprising, indeed, after years of Christian bakers and pizza parlors being targeted for destruction by the gay left for refusing to participate in something because it opposed their conscience and faith. Then came the Radio City Rockettes, the world-famous dancers who with one swift move, seem to have illuminated the hypocrisy of some liberals, albeit... Continue Reading
