57 Percent of Millennials Say Abortion Is A Sin

Millennials hold more conservative views than older adults in several areas, as revealed by Ligonier Ministries’ 2018 State of Theology survey.

Written by Ligonier | Tuesday, October 30, 2018

57 percent of Millennials agreed that abortion is a sin—the strongest opposition of any age group. Likewise, 18–34-year-olds were most likely to disagree with sexual relations outside of marriage, with 54 percent agreeing that sex outside of traditional marriage is a sin. At the same time, Millennials have the most liberal views on homosexual behavior... Continue Reading

Are You Becoming More Or Less Of An Encourager?

The church must be an "oasis" for the true Christian

Written by Jordan Standridge | Saturday, October 27, 2018

“As we get more comfortable around each other, and as we get more comfortable in a certain place, we tend to become more critical. We quickly blow things out of proportion and end up growing in our discouragement of others. But the writer of Hebrews is looking at his contemporaries of the first century and... Continue Reading

Please Do & Please Don’t Assume Motives

We are so quick to assume the very best about our own motives and the very worst about others

Written by Tim Challies | Saturday, October 27, 2018

“Here is what I conclude: It is sinful to assume bad motives; it is sinful to not assume good motives. So when you see a tweet that jumps out at you, don’t immediately interpret it as saying something contentious or defensive.”   Though we boast of great things and take confidence in our knowledge, we... Are Science and Faith Compatible? Concept 1: Atheism is Self-Denying

Atheism cannot rely upon its own conclusions because those conclusions would necessarily be only illusions of thought according to the limitations of scientific naturalism

Written by Mark Phillips | Saturday, October 27, 2018

Theism can be scientifically corroborated. From there, steps to the God of the Bible are less insurmountable. Learning scientific support for God can seem intimidating, a task better left for the “experts” to handle. But, you can understand three basic concepts that are devastating to atheism and powerful tools supporting a creator and designer God.... Continue Reading

Majority of Americans Say Religious Belief Is Merely A Matter Of Personal Opinion

Most Americans say that religious beliefs are simply a personal perspective and are not related to objective reality.

Written by Ligonier | Friday, October 26, 2018

“Many Americans appear to think religious beliefs are on the same level as whether someone likes one sports team over another or prefers to live by the coast instead of in the mountains. This presents an urgent challenge to Christians who understand that people’s eternal destinies are at stake. The Bible declares the objective truth... Continue Reading

Evangelicals Deeply Confused About Core Christian Beliefs

The State of Theology results show that faithful, biblical teaching is needed now more than ever.

Written by Ligonier | Wednesday, October 17, 2018

Overall, U.S. adults appear to have a superficial attachment to well-known Christian beliefs. For example, a majority agreed that Jesus died on the cross for sin and that He rose from the dead. However, they rejected the Bible’s teaching on (1) the gravity of man’s sin, (2) the importance of the church’s gathering together for... Continue Reading

The Essential Truth

The Lord is good to all, and his mercies are over all his works (Ps 145:9)

Written by Kim Shay | Sunday, October 14, 2018

When we are feeling sorry for ourselves, we want validation, and sometimes, we secretly enjoy feeling that we deserve to complain. There is definitely a time for allowing someone to express her frustration, but ultimately, we cannot stay there. Complaining infects our thinking, taking our attention away from God to ourselves. We stop seeing God as good,... The Sins Forbidden by the Ninth Commandment in a Social Media World

Do you read sites that spread rumors and do you yourself spread them in the absence of facts?

Written by Tim Challies | Saturday, October 6, 2018

“Do you routinely seek out and read information that causes you to look at other people with suspicion? Do you spread information (online or offline) about brothers or sisters in Christ that might cause others to look at them suspiciously? Do you spread the kind of information that prejudices people against others?”   In an... Continue Reading

C.S. Lewis On Real Happiness And Real Christianity

Search for joy and it will elude you. Search for God wholeheartedly and you will be found by Him and happiness will be thrown in as a by-product.

Written by Bill Muehlenberg | Sunday, September 30, 2018

“The reason why it can never succeed is this. God made us: invented us as a man invents an engine. A car is made to run on petrol, and it would not run properly on anything else. Now God designed the human machine to run on Himself. He Himself is the fuel our spirits were... Continue Reading

There’s Another Kind of Lust to Avoid, and It’s Not Sexual

When blood seizes our attention and affections, we become observers captive to “gory diversion”

Written by Trevin Wax | Saturday, September 29, 2018

There’s another version of lust that can be just as deadening to the senses and just as damaging to the soul, and it’s one that we often overlook, something we often justify for being “realistic.” I’m talking about gratuitous depictions of violence.   In Christian circles today, we talk frequently about the dangers of lust...
