PCUSA Vice Moderator candidate remains on ballot despite her role in a same-gender wedding.

"I …[stood] with them as they themselves exchanged their vows and as I signed their marriage license."

Written by Leslie Sanlon, The Outlook | Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Currently, the PC(USA) allows Presbyterian ministers to bless same-gender unions, in services that do not use the same liturgy as marriage services and are not presented as being weddings. The denomination’s constitution defines Christian marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Not everything happening at the PCA General Assembly is 'business as usual'

Written by Randy Edwards | Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the wood* of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the wood* are for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:1-2

Editor's note: Trevin has agreed to allow the Aquila Report to reprint all his SBC blogs

Written by Trevin Wax | Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Now is not the time to water down our Baptist distinctives, seek unity at the level of ecclesiology, and pretend that all evangelicals are the same. Allies in WWII did not give up their sovereignty or their countries’ distinctive traits. But neither did they treat each other as opponents This week, I will be in... Continue Reading

Florida Pastor to submit resolution to annual convention complaining about movie's language

Written by Michael Gryboski, Christian Post | Tuesday, June 19, 2012

The quality and message of the film were praised by many sources, including Paul Asay of pluggedin.com, a Focus on the Family sponsored website that reviews entertainment. "It's not a pristine portrayal, either artistically or ethically. But I was moved by the story and walked out of the theater smiling,"

The Aquila Report will be short one full time staff member at the PCA General Assembly

Written by Don K. Clements | Sunday, June 17, 2012

If you see or hear something that is newsworthy (e.g., not simply a rumor, no matter how hot it is) send an email and/or text to [email protected]. That would certainly be quicker and easier than trying to find Dominic Aquila at any given time!!

Christian Reformed Church: Combat global warming by using less energy

Synod says 'Human-induced climate change is an ethical, social justice, and religious issue.'

Written by Matt Vande Bunte, MLive | Sunday, June 17, 2012

By public announcements on climate change, the CRC can call human kind back to a stewardly and humble way of living before God’s face. By using fewer nonrenewable resources and living more simply we may help developing countries rather than hindering them.

Written by Greg Lubbers, Second Clerk | Saturday, June 16, 2012

As the night hours passed, Synod turned its attention to two overtures addressing the proposed Psalter Hymnal. As a result, Synod directed the Psalter Hymnal committee to pay attention to “unrest and concern” in connection to gender-neutral language, the use of the name ‘Jehovah’ and various word changes in traditional hymns.   Tuesday’s evening hours...
