What Happened at the RPCNA Synod (2025)?
The Synod of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America met in Marion, Indiana June 16-20, 2025.
The Synod “commended” our brothers in the ARP for this resolution: ‘That the 221st General Synod of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church do on this solemn day condemn without distinction any theological or political teaching which posits a superiority of race or ethnic identity born of immutable human characteristics and does on this solemn evening... 91st (2025) OPC General Assembly Report
The 91st General Assembly of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church met from June 4–10, 2025, at Trinity Christian College, Palos Heights, Illinois.
Rev. Camden Bucey (Historian of the OPC) reported. He showed a memorial video of ministers who passed away in the last year. Two new books are about to be released, Anthology of OPC History and a second edition of History for a Pilgrim People. Mr. Olinger reminded the Assembly that it is only 11 years... Continue Reading
Let Grace Produce Humility
A Response to George Robertson’s Plea to the PCA Regarding Dr. Bryan Chapell
What I did find persuasive was George’s appeal to grace. I hear George’s plea to let grace prevail. But I have to say that Bryan’s current path speaks the more apt message for our day: pursue the path of humility even if it leads to obscurity. This too might be grace prevailing. The ongoing... Of Clerks and Cancelations: A Partial Rejoinder to David Coffin and George Robertson Concerning our Late Stated Clerk
It would be in the best interests of everyone, including Chapell, to lay his resignation to rest, and for the assembly to adamantly refuse to consider anything that would tend to renew it.
The consequences of his withdrawing his resignation I have mentioned above. The office of stated clerk would be reduced in effectiveness and esteem by doing so, and the PCA would be worse for it. Chapell would be put in an impossible position which he lacked the personal capital – the respect and confidence of others... Continue Reading
MTW and CDM Respond to “Jesus Calling” Overture
MTW has no recommendations regarding actions related to the book. Neither CDM, nor its staff, recommend Jesus Calling.
“Since the devotional life and spiritual maturity of each person are unique, local church elders are best suited to evaluate the spiritual needs and maturity of those considering the book. Elders should converse with members and recommend alternative or remedial devotional materials as needed.” In 2024, the 51st General Assembly passed an overture instructing... Continue Reading
An Open Letter to My Beloved Presbyterian Church in America
A request for the PCA General Assembly to ask Dr. Bryan Chapell to reverse his decision to retire and continue to serve as its Stated Clerk.
I implore you to ask your commissioners to the General Assembly to call on the Administrative Committee and Committee of Commissioners to ask Dr. Chapell to reverse his decision to retire and continue to serve as Stated Clerk. Of course, the expectation would be for Dr. Chapell to continue his personal efforts at reconciliation with... Continue Reading
Meetings Hosted By The Westminster Society At The EPC General Assembly
The 45th General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) is scheduled to meet June 17-19 in Northville, Michigan at Ward Presbyterian Church.

The 45th General Assembly... Continue Reading
Review of Records and More: PCAGA Preview Part Two
In 2018, the implementation of the 2010 "Strategic Plan" began to slow; the 2025 Assembly may demonstrate whether the PCA changed course or simply took a detour.
This is an important Assembly. Will we continue to undo the efforts to implement the 2010 Strategic Plan? Or will the PCA move in a broader direction? I don’t know. We should all pray together that God will continue to bless the PCA and enable her to grow in what she aspires to be: faithful... Continue Reading
A Report from the Review of Presbytery Records
Identifying and Classifying Record Keeping Issues at the Presbytery Level
This article is a mere summary of RPR’s actions and is not intended to be comprehensive or exhaustive. The full report will be made available to commissioners in coming weeks. Moreover, the actions of RPR are not final; they simply make recommendations to the General Assembly who may approve, reject, or amend these recommendations when... Continue Reading
Some Thoughts on Overture 22
The overture seeks to amend the Constitution to permit a congregation to establish a rule setting a minimum voting age.
The Overture bears the burden of showing why the PCA’s Constitution must be changed to permit sessions to admit young persons to the Lord’s Supper and to prevent them from voting in the congregational election of church officers. The Overture has not met this burden. Neither the biblical nor the constitutional-historical arguments proposed in the... Continue Reading
