What are the pressing issues for 21st Century Christians, and can Calvinism provide relevant principles for engagement of these issues?

Six distinguished guest speakers will lead the discussion April 8-10 at a Calvinism For the 21st Century Conference hosted by The Andreas Center for Reformed Scholarship and Service on the campus of Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa

Speakers will be:

Dr. Vincent Bacote, Director of the Center for Applied Christian Ethics at Wheaton College and author of The Spirit in Public Theology: Appropriating the Legacy of Abraham Kuyper, who will discuss Calvinist theology as it pertains to current events.

Dr. David Caudill, Arthur M. Goldberg Family Chair in Law at Villanova University, and author of No Magic Wand: The Idealization of Science in Law, who will discuss the intersection of Calvinism with law and legal ethics.

Dr. Roelf Haan, Chairman of the Board of Solidaridad and the Dom Hélder Câmara Chair at Free University in Amsterdam, who is the author of The Economics of Honor: Biblical Reflections on Money and Property, which he will discuss.

Dr. Jim Skillen, Director of the Center for Public Justice, whose most recent publication is The Prospects and Ambiguities of Globalization: Critical Assessment at a Time of Growing Turmoil.

Dr. James K.A. Smith, Professor of Philosophy at Calvin College; and the author of Desiring the Kingdom: Worship, Worldview and Cultural Formation, who is concerned with both philosophy and urban renewal.

Dr. Julia Stronks, author and professor at Whitworth University in Washington, whose most recently published book is Law, Religion and Public Policy. She focuses upon the relationship between faith and public policy.
