California Wildfires Affect PCA Members

Written by Staff | Tuesday, October 14, 2008

We have been notified some of the families whose children attend the elementary school at Valley Presbyterian Church (PCA) in North Hills (located in the San Fernando Valley area of Los AngelesCounty) have been affected by the wildfires.

Ferocious desert winds pushed one of three major wildfires burning across Southern California to nearly double its size overnight (Porter Ranch), firefighters said Tuesday.  So far, on this third day of the blazes that have destroyed dozens of homes and forced thousands to flee, nearly 60 structures have been destroyed by the fires burning in the San Fernando Valley. The area is about 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

Please pray

1). for the families directly affected by the fires
2). for Pastor Ron Svendsen and his staff and congregation as they seek to minister to the families
3). that the winds will die down so that the firefighters may control the fires
4). for the firefighters as they work to protect the areas under siege
