The Pastor Search Committee of Grace Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Peoria, Ill., announced on Sunday, January 13, 2013, its recommendation of TE Bryan Chapell to serve as Senior Pastor. Dr. Chapell is currently serving as the Chancellor of Covenant Seminary in St. Louis. He had served as President of Covenant Seminary since 1994.
Dr. Chapell is a graduate of Northwestern University and Covenant Seminary. He was ordained in the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Evangelical Synod (RPCES), which became a part of the PCA in 1982. Dr. Chappell served in a number of churches before joining the Covenant Seminary faculty in 1986.
Thom Simpson, Chairman of the Search Committee made the announcement to the congregation. He indicated that information about Bryan Chapell, written biographical information and CDs and DVDs of the last two messages he had preached at Grace, were available for members at the Service and Welcome Desks. Also available will be a link on the church website to a page dedicated to Bryan Chapell where members will find biographical information, pictures of TE Chapell and his family, as well as sermons to watch or listen to.
The Committee has scheduled an Informational Meeting for this Wednesday with members of both the Pastor Search Committee and the Session sharing how God has had his hand on bringing Bryan to the church as a candidate and why they believe God has brought him to Grace for such a time as this.
Also, on Saturday, members will have an opportunity to meet Dr. Chapell and his wife, Kathy, at a reception. He will share personal and ministry information.
Dr. Chapell will preach next Sunday morning at both morning services; and then at 6:00 PM there will be a congregational meeting at which time members will vote on issuing a call.
