UPDATE FILED 7:20AM Thusday.
David Perlmutt of the Charlotte Observer posted this story late Wednesday
Kathryn McClamrock sat in her upstairs bedroom Tuesday night crying over a “silly TV show,” when her younger sister, 10-year-old Caroline, came in sobbing and wiping her face with a wet towel.
“She said, ‘There’s two people from the Army downstairs. It’s about Jamie. He was shot. He’s dead.’” Kathryn, 18, recalled Wednesday evening. “After that, I had something to really cry about.”…
Wednesday evening in Concord, where McClamrock’s parents and five siblings live, friends gathered at Concord ARP Church, where his father is the pastor.
They recalled a young man deeply religious, who had joined the Army a year ago after feeling a divine calling.
They prayed for the families of the other dead soldier and the nine wounded soldiers.
“In the depth of our sorrow, we feel the sting tonight of James’ loss,” said Eugene Boelte, a retired minister and member of the congregation. “This has shocked us and stirred our emotion deeply.
“…But somewhere in all of this, at some point, we will find the answers of why.”

UPDATE FILED 9:50PM Wednesday
Chris Dyches, a Charlotte TV Reporter with WBTV, filed the following story in the station’s online edition with details about James McClamrock’s death in Iraq.
A soldier from Troutman stationed in Iraq was involved in a deadly attack which killed two U.S. soldiers and injured nine others.
According to his family, Private First Class James McClamrock was among a group of soldiers attacked following an argument at an Iraqi army compound north of Baghdad. McClamrock, 22, was shot and killed in the attack.
According to officials with the U.S. Army in Hawaii, PFC McClamrock was a Rifleman with the 25th Infantry in Wahiawa, Hawaii. He was also a radio team operator.
An Army spokesperson in Hawaii told WBTV that McClamrock and ten other soldiers were providing security for a U.S. commander who was meeting with Iraqi forces at the compound in Tuz Khurmatu on Tuesday when an Iraqi opened fire. Tuz Khurmatu is located about 130 miles northeast of Baghdad.
According to his family, PFC has been stationed in Iraq for four to five months.
The two servicemen killed in the attack, are the first Americans that have been killed since the U.S. declared an official end to combat operations in the country last week. The gunman was shot and killed.
Original Story from Clerk of Session at Concord (NC) ARP church
Our pastor, Mark McClamrock, and his family were notified late last night that their son, James, was killed while serving in Iraq.
Mark and his wife Susan are scheduled to fly out of Charlotte this evening at 5:55 p.m. with Shannah McClamrock, James’ widow, and Shannah’s sister, so they can attend a ceremony as James’ remains arrive at Dover AFB at 1 p.m. tomorrow. They expect to return to Concord either tomorrow night or Friday morning, depending on travel arrangements.
I do not believe that funeral arrangements have been made. They have been told to expect some delay in receiving James’ body.
Our congregation is having a prayer meeting tonight (Wednesday) for the McClamrock family. As you can imagine, it is a very difficult time for Mark and the family, so please keep them in your prayers.
Your brother in Christ,
Reid Castrodale
Clerk
Concord ARP
