Birmingham Churches sponsor special outreach to Vietnamese Community

Written by Staff | Friday, September 25, 2009

Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Hunter Street Baptist Church and the local Vietnamese Church are cooperating together in a special Gospel outreach to Birmingham-area Vietnamese. These churches have been planning an evangelistic event that local Vietnamese non-believers could be invited to. [Editor’s note: the original URL (link) referenced in this article is no longer valid, so the link has been removed.]

Dr. Tom Stebbins of EE International will be the guest speaker. Dr. Stebbins lived many years in Vietnam and speaks the language fluently. In addition there will be a nice Vietnamese meal, door prizes and a Vietnamese guest singer from North Alabama.

The concept is for believers (Vietnamese and American) from our three churches to invite ethnic Vietnamese to this special event in which we could fellowship together and hear Dr. Stebbins present the gospel in their heart language. This outreach which has been titled “Friendship Banquet” will be held Sunday Night, November 15 in the Fellowship Hall of McElwain Baptist Church on Montevallo Road.

The Christian who has contact with a local Vietnamese (neighbor, nail salon worker, etc.) invites a friend(s) and purchases the ticket for both of them. In that scenario, the Christian would attend this special “Friendship Banquet” with her/his Vietnamese contact.
