We Need the Real Community of the Church
The largest 10% of churches in America draw 50% of church attendees.
We need the awkwardness of a worship service where not every song is a wonderfully produced experience of excitement. We need awkward pauses and awkward people. Why? Because that's real life.
Dripping Like A Leaky Faucet
Scripture alone is sufficient for the church, since the time of Christ, through the ages
But we should recognize, and emphasize, that the authority of God speaking can and must only be attached to what he has said in his Word. It is illegitimate, therefore, not to mention dangerous and deceptive, for anyone to say that the word of God has come to him as an individual. If that is so, then that word would carry all the authority of God himself, and would, by definition, undermine, subvert and contravene any biblical notion of the sufficiency and authority of Scripture
Women Bloggers and ‘Real’ Church Ministry
According to ChurchRelevance.com, the topics we cover at Her.meneutics are not serious ministry. Excuse me?
So let the list-makers make their lists; let them continue to think that “sex, relationships, adoption, politics, etc.” have nothing to do with serious church ministry. And let the army of women bloggers continue clacking away.
RCA Ministry Candidates in 2011 at Lowest Level in Over a Decade
A number of candidates have withdrawn from the MFCA because they have decided the RCA is not a good fit for them. Most of these individuals tend to be more conservative
A graph provided by the Reformed Church in America's Ministerial Formation Certification Agency shows enrollment and Certificate of Fitness for Ministry trends from 2004 to 2011 in a graphic released on October 2, 2012. Enrolment in 2011 was down to its lowest level in more than a decade, the MFCA reported.
A Balanced Evangelical View of America’s Founding
It would be problematic to deny the deep Christian (or at least theistic) influence on the Founders’ intellectual world.
While not every Founding Father was a Bible believer, they all lived in a Bible-suffused milieu. And while faith was hardly their only inspiration, Christian principles heavily informed the Founders’ beliefs in equality, liberty, and the nature of the American republic.
Shannon Macfarlane Sproul
Daughter of Dr. R.C. Sproul Jr. and granddaughter of Dr. R.C. Sproul dead at age fifteen.
She was born with a condition called Lissencephaly, a condition that left her profoundly disabled. She was a blessing to all who knew her. In fact, a few years ago, Joni Eareckson Tada produced a short TV program that showed how Shannon and her family handled disability in light of the sovereignty of God

African Americans and “Big God” Theology
Only the fully-orbed, God-centered Gospel of the Bible has the power to renew individuals and whole communities
I lived and worked as an educator in the Mississippi Delta for seven years. The Black community there is bruised by generational poverty, lack of education, poor health care, single parent homes, apathetic men, and nearly every other social ill that exists. Yet the norm for my students and their families was to attend church. As I daily encountered the fruits of these dysfunctions I asked myself, “Where is the Gospel transformation?”
I Fought the Church, and the Church Won
It became clear to me that Sola Scriptura could not provide a way to speak meaningfully about the necessary distinction between orthodoxy and heresy
Who are the members of Called to Communion? We are Christians who love Jesus the Messiah, love the faith, love the Scriptures and love the Catholic Church. We are Catholics, but none of us was born or raised in the Catholic Church. We arrived in the Catholic Church in diverse ways but through a similar path involving spiritual formation within the Reformed tradition of confessional Protestantism.
The Gospel and Sexual Orientation; A Review
"One of the most concise and helpful statements on the various issues involved in the matter of same-sex attraction."
The book outlines the history of modern thinking about sexuality, addresses the key theological and textual arguments of those opposed to the traditional Christian approach, shows how the Westminster Standards apply to the matter, and, in a final chapter, offers very good practical pastoral advice…
