Dr. Cornelius Van Till alluded to this years ago. As the world becomes epistemologically self-conscious, the antithesis between the Christian and the world will become more profound. As the world becomes more consistent with their presuppositions, they will turn on Christ with a vengeance. Since we as Christians represent Christ on earth, they will turn on us— and most likely this will happen to our grandchildren.
I always promised myself as a young person that when I grew old, I would not end up watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy on television. It seemed like the next step before death. Well, it’s 2018 and here I am doing what I said I would not do.
Recently, while watching these two popular family-shows, I was suddenly alarmed. On both shows on different nights, male contestants introduced their male husbands. The audience clapped their hands. Oh my God! What has happened to our culture? Abomination has not only been legalized, but it has now been normalized. It has gone mainstream. I was shocked and angered.
Alex Trebek and Jeopardy have put me in jeopardy. Not to mention Pat Sajak and Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune! No one is safe anymore. Maybe these TV hosts are alarmed also. I really don’t know. Both times I quickly turned to another channel, but I must confess that I have now come back again (until another man introduces his husband).
However, here is the bottom line. I now realize more than ever before that I am an open enemy in an anti-Christian culture. I am in a minority. This new status has not been publicly declared as yet, but I know that I have to be careful about what I say and when I say it. I no longer have freedom of speech in America. As a Christian who believes in the law of God, I am politically incorrect. Actually, I’m getting old and it does not concern me personally. All of my children are locked into careers, and I don’t worry about them.
What concerns me most are my grandchildren. In 10 to 20 years, what will they have to face? There is a war going on in the United States for the soul of our nation, and we Christians are losing. According to most modern Christians, we are supposed to lose the war anyway, or the rapture will occur first. However, for Christians like me who see generations living on this earth long after I am gone, we can agree that apart from a revival or reformation, my grandchildren may face relentless persecution. I pray that they will not rise up and curse my generation for the mess we have left them.
Let us be clear. This war is not between conservatives and liberals, Democrats and Republicans, or even Trumpers and Never-Trumpers. Don’t get caught up in mere secular language and so-called political ideology. It is a war between Christian morals and non-Christian morals. To be blunt, it is a war between the world and Christ. The world hates the law of God, and therefore the world hates Christ.

As a post-millennialist, I believe that Christ will rule the earth before his second-coming, and that the glory of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. However, before that time comes, we may expect the rise and fall of nations. America is declining, and its decline is accelerating fast. Heathenism has gone mainstream. All you need to do is to watch Alex Trebek and Jeopardy on television to see the real jeopardy that we face as Christians.
