These individuals [who had been excommunicated by DAC] resigned their membership from SAC on December 14, 2025, and were subsequently examined and received as members in their respective PCA churches within the CFP. They are members in good standing, admitted to the Lord’s Table, and welcomed into the fellowship of God’s people. Central Florida Presbytery deems these excommunications improper, disruptive to the peace of the Church, detrimental to those under our pastoral care, and without ecclesiastical effect within the Presbyterian Church in America.
On December 14, 2025, Saint Andrew’s Chapel (SAC) voted to leave the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and become an independent congregation in accordance with BCO 25-11. Indictments and judicial cases initiated “in the name of the Presbyterian Church in America” (BCO 31-4) properly belong to the courts of the PCA. Having withdrawn from the PCA, SAC no longer possesses authority within those courts to adjudicate such cases. As an independent church, the governing board of SAC is no longer subject to the oversight of the PCA’s higher courts of appeal and is not authorized to adjudicate indictments issued in the name of the PCA.
On March 12, 2026, the governing board of SAC improperly excommunicated three members (Ruling Elder David Zima, Drs. Stephen and Heidi Nichols) in good standing in PCA churches within Central Florida Presbytery (CFP). These individuals resigned their membership from SAC on December 14, 2025, and were subsequently examined and received as members in their respective PCA churches within the CFP.
Adopted by the Central Florida Presbytery at its 201st meeting, March 31, 2026.
Donald L. Mountan
Stated Clerk of Central Florida Presbytery
