73rd Bible Presbyterian Church Synod

Written by Staff | Sunday, September 6, 2009

The 73rd General Synod of the Bible Presbyterian Church met August 6-11, 2009, in the mountains of East Tennessee. The following resolution was made:

RESOLUTION 73:04 – Islam Knows No Peace

Contrary to modern political and religious propaganda, Islam is not a peaceable religion. Especially since the latter half of the 20th century when billions of petro-dollars began to flow into numerous Muslim states, Islam, which recognizes no “separation between religion and state,” began to flex its political muscle.

When Mohammed founded Islam in the 7th century, its stated goal was world-wide conquest with the establishment of an Islamic-controlled world order.[1] The means of conquest adopted and modeled by Mohammed was naked force—the use of the sword. Sanctioned by the Quran, that brutal method continues today. Wherever Islam is in the majority, Mohammed’s modern disciples brook no competition, but will use public threat and murder to intimidate, and riot, war, and genocide to exterminate competing religions, particularly Christianity. Sudan’s campaign of genocide in Darfur along with Sharia-sanctioned enslavement (Hadith 5:67,459,512,541) of that region’s children has finally captured world attention. This horrific development should not overshadow the systemic brutality and mayhem wreaked daily upon non-Muslims in countries like Pakistan, Eritrea, Nigeria, Indonesia, and Somalia.
Islam knows no liberty, but only submission. There is no grace toward man nor love toward Allah in Islam. Mercy is shown only to infidels who submit to the power of Islam (Surah 2:190-192; 9:5).[2] Otherwise, according to the Quran non-Muslims are objects of the sword[3] (Surah 5:33; 2:29,41). There is no peace within Islam because there is no gracious forgiveness nor light of the true God.
Jesus warns that “those who live by the sword will perish by the sword” (Matt 26:52). Contrary to the graceless society of Islam, He commands his disciples to love their enemies (Matt 5:43,44) and He shows them how to obey this command that is against human nature (Luke 23:34). He calls upon His followers to know and love the eternal God of love (Matt 22:37), and to call sinners to repentance before the day of final judgment (Luke 13:1-9). His word calls us to peace in Christ (Rom 5:1,2) and to peace with our neighbor (Rom 12:18).
In view of the opposing messages and irreconcilable difference in spirit between Islam and Bible-based Christianity, the 73 General Synod of the Bible rd Presbyterian Church meeting in Bristol, Virginia, from August 6-11, 2009, calls upon Christians to recognize that Allah is not a representation of the true God, nor does Islam lead to heaven but only to suffering, sorrow, and death. We further call upon Bible-believing Christians to pray for the many souls still being persecuted in the name of Allah, and as providence brings Muslims into their home communities, to love them and to give them the liberating and peace-yielding gospel of Jesus Christ.

FOOTNOTES:
[1] Radical Jihadists today work for the return of universal Caliphate larger than 1 that of the Ottoman Empire. Osama bin Laden had hoped that “the pious caliphate will start from Afghanistan.”
[2] ‘Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth no aggressors. And slay them wherever you find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out…. But if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving, merciful” (Surah 2:190-92). “But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them. And seize them, beleaguer them. Lie in wait for the in every stratagem of war; but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful” (Surah9:5).
[3] “The infidel is to be “killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land . . . and in the hereafter theirs will be an awful doom” (Surah 5:33). “Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day. .. . Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah!” ( Surah 2:29, 41).
