It started out with one small white cross in a front yard in Dallas, Texas. Today, the Easter Cross Witness is a national phenomenon — an outreach that reaches across denominations to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
People like Meg Fisher, a member of First ARP Church in Gastonia, tirelessly spread the word and her efforts have resulted in more than 3,000 crosses being sold here in Gaston County in recent years.
“This project has been embraced by almost all the main line churches,” she said. “This is not a ministry of any one denomination; rather it is a ministry of witness of Christians nationwide.”

It all started back in 2005 when a man named Bruce Fogerty invited three friends to breakfast where he pitched his idea of the crosses. A visit to Normandy, France with his father, a World War II veteran, made a lasting impression on the Texan, particularly the thousands of white crosses that marked the graves of fallen soldiers. What if similar crosses were placed in front of the homes of followers of Jesus? he wondered.
