Roger Thurow to speak on “The Politics of Famine”
Wheaton College’s Department of Politics and International Relations presents a lecture by Roger Thurow titled “The Politics of Famine” at 4 p.m. Thursday, February 11.
Thurow has been a Wall Street Journal foreign correspondent for 20 years and is co-author of the book Enough: Why the World’s Poorest Starve in an Age of Plenty.

Holocaust Survivor to Lecture at Wheaton
The Tikvaht Israel Club (Hope of Israel), a student group at Wheaton, offers a lecture by Holocaust survivor Irving Roth at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 11.
Roth, a native of the former Czechoslovakia, was imprisoned in the Auschwitz and Buchenwald death camps during World War II. He will speak about his experiences and on the importance of remembering the atrocities committed against the Jewish people.
Roth emigrated to the U.S. in 1947. A winner of the 2004 Spirit of Anne Frank Award, he directs the Holocaust Resource Center at Temple Judea of Manhasset, New York. He is also the former education director of the Holocaust Memorial and Education Center of Nassau County. With a spirit of reconciliation, Roth leads student groups on tours of the death camps, including Auschwitz.
Wheaton College Blanchard Professor of English Dr. Roger Lundin will also reflect on the Holocaust from a Christian perspective.

Art Exhibit by John Bakker
The Art Department at Wheaton College presents an exhibit by artist John Bakker February 9 through March 3. Bakker is a professor of art and chair of Trinity Christian College’s art department. The exhibit of paintings and mixed media will be displayed in the Hansen Main and Small Galleries located on the first floor of Adams Hall. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Adams Hall is located in the center of campus, north of Blanchard Hall, at 501 College Avenue in Wheaton (campus map). The exhibit is free and open to the public.
