March 23-25 at the Seminary chapel, Ferguson will preach on the theme “Not ourselves, but Jesus Christ . . . with ourselves: The Heartbeat of Gospel Ministry.”
This year, the annual Robert G. and Nellie B. den Dulk Lectures on Pastoral Ministry will be brought by the Rev. Dr. Sinclair Ferguson on March 23, 24 & 25, 2010.
Dr. Ferguson will deliver three lectures at 10:00 a.m. each day in the WSC chapel on the theme “Not ourselves, but Jesus Christ . . . with ourselves: The Heartbeat of Gospel Ministry.”
The den Dulk lectures is an event that brings seasoned pastors from a variety of denominations and regions to Westminster Seminary California’s campus for three days to share wisdom born from experience in gospel ministry with our students.
Dr. Sinclair B. Ferguson is Senior Minister of the First Presbyterian Church (ARP) of Columbia, South Carolina and Professor of Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A graduate of the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, he is the author of some two dozen books, has authored numerous articles and has contributed to various symposia. His writing interests have ranged from works of scholarship to books for children. He has served as minister of two congregations in Scotland, one on Unst, the most northerly inhabited island in the United Kingdom, and the other at the centre of Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland.
For more than twenty years he has been a member of the faculty of Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and Dallas, and has served as a visiting professor in various other seminaries.
The Robert G. and Nellie B. den Dulk Lectures on Pastoral Ministry were endowed by friends of Westminster Seminary California and by the den Dulks in 1993, when Bob den Dulk resigned as the second president of the Seminary.
In appreciation for the den Dulks’ 30-year service to the Westminster Seminaries in Pennsylvania and California and in recognition of their passion for the preparation of pastors to preach the Word of God faithfully and powerfully, Westminster Seminary California designated the proceeds of this endowment to bring an experienced pastor to the campus each year to address current and future ministers of Word and Sacrament in order to encourage and offer wise counsel regarding the rigors and joys of shepherding Christ’s flock.
