In an email to all of its members sent out last week, the Pacific Northwest Presbytery made the following announcement concerning details of the upcoming trial of charges against Teaching Elder Peter Leithart’s views on what is known as ‘Federal Vision’ theology.
This is to inform you that the hours of the TE Leithart trial have been adjusted slightly from those originally announced. The trial, which will be held at Green Lake Presbyterian Church, will commence at 9 a.m. sharp on Friday, June 3, and end at approximately 6 p.m. that day. On Saturday, June 4, the trial will resume at 8 a.m. and go until approximately 3 p.m.
… And as mentioned before, we will be in Executive Session, so the contents of the proceedings may not be shared, personally or electronically, with those who are not members of our Presbytery, either during or after the trial, and may only be discussed with members of our Presbytery who were present in the Executive Session. Once Presbytery acts on the Commission’s findings (in October), those findings and Presbytery’s decision will become a matter of public record.
This means that news services such as The Aquila Report will not be able to report news on the progress of the trial and its verdict until after the October meeting of PNW, as we indicated we had planned to do.
