Gene was elected Stated Clerk of Grace Presbytery in January 1992 and has continued to serve the Presbytery as Stated Clerk since that time until January 2014, when he declined to be nominated for that office again….during his tenure as Stated Clerk, Grace Presbytery has been blessed by Gene’s labors, leadership, integrity and organizational skills, as attested by the fact that he has been reelected to serve in that office for twenty two years.
At its 138th Stated Meeting on January 14, 2014, Grace Presbytery (of the Presbyterian Church in America) honored Eugene C. “Gene” Case on his retirement as its Stated Clerk.
Gene has been a member of Grace Presbytery since August, 1974 when he was ordained and installed as the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodville, MS where he has faithfully preached the whole counsel of God and pastored that portion of our Lord’s flock for almost forty years.
Gene was joined by his family and listened to a testimonial by Teaching Elder David Jussely and received a variety of gifts from the Presbytery, congregations and individuals.
Ruling Elder David Wilkerson, who was twelve years of age when Gene began his ministry in Woodville, read a Resolution of Thanks to Gene which was adopted by the Presbytery.
It reads in part:
WHEREAS, Gene was a confirmed bachelor until age fifty at which time the Lord in his providence presented Gene his lovely bride Rachel, who Gene married in 1997. The Lord has blessed this union with five covenant children, like olive plants around his table, Thomas, Laura Beth, Emilie, Preston and Robert; and,
WHEREAS, Gene was elected Stated Clerk of Grace Presbytery in January 1992 and has continued to serve the Presbytery as Stated Clerk since that time until January 2014, when he declined to be nominated for that office again; and,
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Stated Clerk, Grace Presbytery has been blessed by Gene’s labors, leadership, integrity and organizational skills, as attested by the fact that he has been reelected to serve in that office for twenty two years; and . . .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Grace Presbytery in its 138th stated meeting, gives thanks to God Almighty and to our Lord Jesus Christ, the King and Head of the Church for the twenty-two years of faithful service rendered by Gene Case as Stated Clerk of Grace Presbytery, and prays that God will continue to bless Gene as he continues to serve the Kingdom.
Presbytery rose to honor Gene with a standing ovation after which prayer was offered suitable to the occasion by Dr. Jussely.
