“World Magazine has been a faithful partner in spreading news about Christian persecution and suffering. Through its accurate, professional and timely news stories and commentaries, both in print and online, it has raised awareness about suffering Christians. World Magazine is on the cutting edge of news, wherever or whenever it happens. We are so thankful for their commitment to keeping believers informed from a Christian worldview.”
Open Doors USA, an international Christian ministry which supports and strengthens persecuted Christians in some of the world’s most dangerous countries, has named World Magazine as the recipient of its fifth annual “Passion for the Persecuted” award.
The award is presented to a media organization which has established an on-going commitment to inform its audience about the plight of persecuted Christians around the world.
“We appreciate the long-standing dedication of Open Doors to draw attention to the plight of the persecuted and are honored to be counted among those with ‘passion for the persecuted’ because that’s the example we’ve received from Jesus,” says World Magazine editor Mindy Belz. “We’re also humbled by the award at this hour when persecution isn’t in decline, but grows more vicious by the day in more parts of the world. We at World Magazine know that more reporting and investigative work remains.”
Open Doors USA Interim President/CEO Steve Ridgway states: “World Magazine has been a faithful partner in spreading news about Christian persecution and suffering. Through its accurate, professional and timely news stories and commentaries, both in print and online, it has raised awareness about suffering Christians. World Magazine is on the cutting edge of news, wherever or whenever it happens. We are so thankful for their commitment to keeping believers informed from a Christian worldview.”
World Magazine is a subsidiary of World News Group. The mission statement of World News Group states: “To report, interpret and illustrate news in a timely, accurate, enjoyable and arresting fashion from a perspective committed to the Bible as the inerrant Word of God.”
Past winners of the award include Mission Network News, Moody’s Prime Time America, Christian Post and ASSIST News Service.
Open Doors USA will present a plaque to World Magazine officials at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention on Monday, March 4, in Nashville.
