The Illinois Supreme Court on July 11, 2013 upheld the constitutionality of a 1995 law that requires doctors to notify parents of girls younger than 17 who seek an abortion.
The decision clears the way for the state to enforce the state parent notification law following a lengthy legal battle.
“The Act does not violate our state constitutional guarantees of due process, equal protection, privacy or gender equality,” the court said in a ruling delivered by Justice Anne Burke.
