Serving with Mission To The World (PCA) in Vienna, Austria
It is always a challenge to find the best way to communicate to you, dear friends about what God is doing in the city of Vienna. This will, again be more like a prayer journal for you to lift up these various situations and people to the throne above. You are a part of this team whether you are here geographically here in Vienna or not. Praying and/or giving financially bind us together in this very important ministry.
One on one counseling: encouraging several young couples to work on their marriage while at the same time helping two of these couples to process the impending divorce; helping two people with a difficult medical diagnosis which brings a lot of fears and uncertainty; meeting with missionaries who are processing transitional issues (includes homesickness etc.); supporting a single parent in raising his/her child alone;
- helping a young Austrian who has a family member that is suffering from mental illness; helping a couple process their issues after 30 years of marriage (one of them wants out of the marriage); assisting a young woman who has stepped out of a very sinful lifestyle; helping a young missionary who is experiencing burnout; helping a young woman process the loss of her mother.
Support for Vienna Christian School: going to the visa office with staff to help in German translation; helping to process the stress of living in a new culture; meeting with new students who are struggling academically and emotionally; hosting get-togethers and parties at our house for staff; leading a German conversation group for the staff; organizing testing for students who are struggling; being the liaison between the school and child protection agency
Herzwerk (ministry to trafficked women); being part of the team of street workers and helping with various aspects of this ministry; going out with one or two other people to minister in person to these ladies;
- being available for one on one counseling when needed; taking part in training in learning more about the psychology of prostitutes
International Chapel of Vienna; meeting with various families who are in need of emotional support; helping to organize workshops ( recently Mr. Ken Williams and his wife, MaeBeth presented a workshop on communications to some couples in the church.); hosting the young people of the Chapel once a week in our living room or in our yard
Hospitality: many many large and small group get-togethers in our backyard (almost weekly); several meetings and dinners planned for the fall in our living room; various student groups from Vienna Christian School; hosting Mrs.Cynde Morgan, ( our colleague from Columbia International University ) She administered some psychological tests to some of our VCS students.
