What does he do?
Todd Joling spent his early years on the West Coast and said he was born into a Christian home, blessed with the benefits of Godly parents, church membership and Christian schooling. That upbringing led him into ministry, and since 1998, he has been the pastor of the Faith United Reformed Church in Beecher (in Southside Chicago).
Early on, Joling’s family moved from San Diego to Salem, Ore., where his father set aside his engineering work to take up farming and the raising of veal calves.
“Late in high school, through the influence of my father and the elders at my church, I decided to at least begin the pre-seminary track in college to become a missionary or minister and to preach and teach God’s word,” Joling said. “The Lord planted in my heart” a desire for serving in the ministry.
How did he get into his job?
In 1992 Joling enrolled at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Ga., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English. Afterward, he entered the Mid-America Reformed Seminary in Dyer, Ind.
“Mid-America proved to be a great blessing, supplying the tools needed for the ministry,” Joling said. “After seminary graduation in 1998, I was blessed with a call to pastor Faith United Reformed Church.”
