At a recent graduation ceremony, the Evangelical Reformed Seminary of Ukraine (ERSU), the seminary of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine, celebrated its 10th anniversary.
At present, 31 churches across Ukraine and neighboring Belarus have pastors or associate pastors trained by the seminary, including all seven churches of the Ukrainian Evangelical Reformed Churches and eight churches of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine. The EPCU was started by the Mission to the World Ukraine mission’s team….
ERSU, located in Kiev, Ukraine, was founded in 2000 through a partnership of Mission to the World (MTW) and the Reformed Church of the Netherlands (Liberated), and focuses on high educational standards.
“ERSU is not only ‘raising the bar’ in theological education in Ukraine by demanding the same requirements as Western programs, but we are integrating the practical work with the academic and spiritual,” said seminary president and MTW missionary Clay Quarterman.

Below is additional information from the Seminary’s ‘legacy’ website:
The Reformed faith is growing in Ukraine after 70 years of repression. These churches are training their own leaders and planting churches with the help of the Evangelical Reformed Seminary of Ukraine.
This school is dedicated to:
· the inerrancy of Scripture,
· a Grace-oriented ministry, and
· faithfulness to the Reformed standards
(See our Doctrine on the Seminary Webpage!
)
This school has a long-range goal: to train pastors for the spread of the Gospel in Ukraine and beyond, meeting the educational needs of these denominations, and becoming a fully-Ukrainian graduate school.
How the school works:
· Students travel to Kiev for 8 intensive weeks of study per year.
· They are given research assignments, and meet with regional tutors once per month.
· Their school work load is 20 hours per week
· They serve in churches to integrate their knowledge with character and skills, so they often need financial help.
