In an email to the Faculty and Staff of Erskine College sent out in the early evening of Wednesday, Sept 7, President David Norman announced that controversial English professor William Crenshaw is no longer employed by the college.
As with the letter from AAUP published earlier today, The Aquila Report has received copies of the email from multiple sources and considers it to be authentic.

Since this is likely to be widely known and discussed, I wanted to make you aware that as of today, Dr. Bill Crenshaw is no longer employed by Erskine College.
While we are not at liberty to discuss the details of personnel matters, please know that the administration has carefully followed the due process prescribed by our Faculty Manual and sought in every way possible to treat this matter and Dr. Crenshaw fairly.
Any inquiries from members of the media or other interested parties should be directed to the office of the chief communications officer (Cliff Smith, [email protected]).
We realize that many both within and outside the extended Erskine community will be concerned by this news. While matters like this are always difficult, the cabinet and I remain wholeheartedly committed to pursuing the mission of Erskine College to equip students to flourish as whole persons by providing an excellent liberal arts education in an Christ-centered environment.
We wish Dr. Crenshaw well in his future endeavors. Please keep Dr. Crenshaw and those involved in this matter in your prayers.
All for Christ!
David Norman
