Rev. Dr. Harold L. Richardson passed away on July 21, 2012, at his home after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Visitation was held on Sunday, July 22, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church (PCA) of Winona, MS followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. The current pastor, PCA Teaching Elder Grover Gunn officiated at the service, which included eulogies by Jerry Ellis and Kay Weaver.
Dr. Richardson was born in Ripley, MS in 1936. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University, class of 1962 and then did graduate work at the University of Wyoming.
He was the Pastor Emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church of Winona, retiring in 2007.
After seminary, Harold served a three church charge at the Bethel ARP Church in Oak Hill, AL, the Camden, AL ARP church and the Prosperity ARP Church in Marion Junction, AL. He then moved to Winona where he served for 32 years.
Before and after entering the ministry, he taught high school classes for more than 40 years and was an instructor at Northeast Mississippi Junior College, Wood Junior College and Holmes Community College. He also served four years in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sally R. Richardson of Oxford, MS, and four children: Brent Richardson, Kari Phillips, and Lori Hunger (James), all of Winona; and Phil Richardson (Shauna) of Memphis. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Lauren Herbert, Juston Herbert, Phillip Lee Dotson, and Hayden Phillips. He is survived by three siblings: Mary Sue Tate (Gene) of New Albany, Pamela Hill (Larry) of Faulkner, and Patricia Hopper (Jimmy), and his mother, Gladys Roten Richardson, of Ripley.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lamont Daniel Richardson of Ripley.
