The congregation of Cypress Ridge Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Winter Haven, Florida has announced the arrival of its senior pastor, the Rev. Cory Kloth.
Kloth comes to Winter Haven from Covington, Ga., where he served as the Associate Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church for the past eight years.
While serving in Covington Kloth was founder of an ecumenical local mercy ministry called Faith Works, whose mission was “to provide NewtonCounty’s neediest citizens with emergency financial aid through the combined auspices of local churches that have committed themselves to the model of Jesus Christ in his ministry to the poor during his lifetime. Such aid is not only in the form of emergency financial assistance, but also in the form of training and services that enable clients to become self-sustaining. We are a volunteer-based ministry pledged to support our brothers and sisters with prayers and spiritual encouragement, looking to God for sure provision for the needs of our community.”
Kloth also served as chaplain of a free medical clinic, counselor to troubled teens and parents, director-assistant to inner-city tutoring program and an advanced mathematics instructor.
Although raised primarily in the Mid-West, Kloth is a graduate of the University of Georgia and worked for a time in the field of his major, chemistry. He is a 2000 MDiv graduate of Covenant Seminary in St. Louis.
Kloth wrote an article online article on evangelism which has been quoted extensively on the internet, even by atheists. Additionally, he also has done extensive study on Karl Barth and presented a seminar at the PCA 2008 General Assembly on that topic of Barth’s life, ministry and theology. He will be focusing more on Barth as he works on a DMin degree at Covenant Seminary in the coming years.
Kloth and his wife, Heather, have 6-year-old triplets, Shannon, Autumn and Garner.
