What is Forgiveness?
God didn’t forgive our sins by forcing a person to pay for them. He forgave our debt of sin because Jesus willingly suffered on a cross to pay for them.
Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan doesn’t forgive debt—it simply redistributes and transfers the debt to unwilling citizens. That makes it unjust. It’s unjust to force others to pay for a debt that isn’t their own. It’s therefore troubling that some Christians are comparing Biden’s student loan “forgiveness” plan with God’s forgiveness of sin. Christians who... Continue Reading
One Last Magnificent Porous Day
For one brief day the immanent frame of our secular imaginary was peeled back, and we were given a vision, albeit in shadow form, of what true majesty might look like.
In this final passive act, the Queen called us to acknowledge not our inner selves, or our felt selves, or our authentic selves, or whatever the latest psychobabble bon mot is that describes incurvatus in se, (the self curved in on itself) – but God Himself above. Her commitment to transcendence – God’s transcendence meant that down here she... Continue Reading
Samford Turns Away Episcopalians, Presbyterians from Event Due to LGBTQ Views, Activist Says
The Presbyterian Church (USA) and Episcopal Church college chaplains had taken part in previous ministry fairs at Samford with no problems.
Samford University defended its stance on the matter in a letter sent to students and shared with faculty and staff. Vice President of Student Affairs Philip Kimrey noted that “the university has a responsibility to formally partner with ministry organizations that share our beliefs.” A campus minister at Samford University turned away Presbyterian Church (USA)... Identity Confusion In The Church: Majority of U.S. Christians Don’t Know Who They Are, According To New Survey From Ligonier Ministries
Ligonier Ministries: survey reveals the overwhelming majority of U.S. evangelicals have accepted a view of human identity that aligns more with American society than the teaching of the Bible.
The fact that nearly two-thirds of U.S. evangelicals believe that humans are born in a state of innocence reveals that the biblical teaching of original sin is not embraced by most evangelicals. The Bible, however, makes clear that all humans are “by nature children of wrath” (Eph. 2:3). In other words, we are not sinners... Continue Reading
The Transgender Movement Isn’t Just Targeting Kids, It’s Targeting Families
The point isn’t just to break down the "gender binary." It’s to break down the family in order to reshape society.
The point of the indoctrination, though, isn’t only to create more “gender-nonconforming” students. It’s to break down family structures and parental authority. The goal isn’t simply to teach and encourage transgenderism in our schools. It’s to lay claim to the students themselves, over and against their parents and families, for purposes that go far beyond... Continue Reading
Frankenstein Was the Foreshadowing
Two hundred two years later, Mary Shelley’s horrifying tale of the unconstrained vision continues to speak to us. It should also serve as a permanent warning.
Today we live amidst new creations that we know from experience turned very different from how they are envisioned: lockdowns, closures, masks, distancing, capacity limits, vaccines, vaccine mandates, and a host of other preposterous things and practices (plexiglass anyone?) that came to mark our time, all promoted as the approved science by major media. ... The Rise of Gender-Affirmation and the Silencing of Dissent
Children are effectively at the mercy of schoolteachers, health professionals, and the state — instead of their parents. Many agree that this is fundamentally wrong.
There is a new darkness, and that is the silencing of criticism when it comes to the future health of our children. Australia doesn’t have a voice in this debate — that has been silenced by the legislation of our premiers — so we must wait to see if legal action in other countries is able to... Continue Reading
What is Coming Next for Canadian Churches?
It is important to note that we are just entering the post-Christian age—things are likely to get a lot worse.
Carl Trueman offers some powerful advice in the aforementioned essay, including being deeply rooted in doctrine and Scripture; rejecting the postmodern worship practices that have come with our “childish age”; and putting “our own lives in perspective…before God.” We must work to defend our communities and shape the minds of our children while also seeking to love... What the Left Fears Most: The Church Militant
Boldly, Unapologetically Defending the Faith
I am not here praising or calling for any physical militancy. After all, and unlike the aforementioned Defenders of the West, who had no choice but to fight, today’s Christians need not take up arms in a physical manner. Rather, if today’s men were simply to reclaim their manhood and start behaving like men — and, most... Continue Reading
Assisted Suicide is Spiralling Out of Control in Canada
The Supreme Court dismissed warnings of a slippery slope, but that is exactly what has happened.
We can hope that as more and more tragic cases emerge in Canada, public pressure may begin to force legislators to take action to restrict access to assisted suicide. But once a change like this happens, it’s hard to ever imagine it being fully reversed. The underlying logic of a “right” to assisted suicide, and... Continue Reading
