Court Denies StemExpress Request To Access, Block Aborted Baby Part Videos
The requested injunction would have violated CMP's First Amendment rights.
Judge Joanne O’Donnell argued that the requested injunction, which would have prevented CMP from releasing some of their undercover footage featuring high level StemExpress employees, would violate CMP’s First Amendment rights. The ruling comes two weeks after O’Donnell issued a narrow temporary restraining order preventing CMP from releasing further undercover video footage taken at a... Continue Reading

Dr. Douglas Kelly will retire from his position as the Richard Jordan Professor of Theology, effective May 31, 2016.
Dr. Michael Kruger, president of the Charlotte campus, said, “It is difficult to find words to express what Doug Kelly has meant to Reformed Theological Seminary. He is one of our most beloved professors, one of our brightest minds, and of one our finest preachers. While he will be dearly missed, we are grateful that... Continue Reading
You Want to Move Up in Ministry?
Don't see ministry as goals to be achieved and conquered, rather than as a privileged calling
A common approach to advancing in position is to start in children’s ministry or youth ministry and “moving up” to young adults, then Associate Pastor, and then one day to be Lead or Senior Pastor. I can’t even count how many times I was asked as a youth minister, “When do you think you’re going to move past youth... Continue Reading
Meet The Filmmaker Exposing Planned Parenthood
How a 26-year-old founded the undercover operation to take down the abortion giant
“The videos, which claim Planned Parenthood profits from selling fetal tissue, caused public outrage and launched nationwide rallies. As many as seven states, including Texas, have planned hearings or investigations into Planned Parenthood.” For years, a group of pro-life activists and politicians have waged a fierce political and brand war with the Planned Parenthood... The Calvary Option?
Ministry will continue to be made up of the same elements as that of our spiritual forefathers: Word, sacraments, prayer
Despised and mocked by all around him, he plods towards death, faithfully doing that to which he has been called. But the Calvary Option is surely too grand a name for just doing my job. So I suggest we call it simply ‘the traditional pastoral work in an ordinary congregation option.’ Inelegantly phrased, I know,... Continue Reading
The Future of Evangelicalism: Stronger, Smaller, and Stranger
We'll be left with a church of upstream swimmers, people who cling to their faith identity despite a powerful counter current of anti-Christian sentiment.
Nominal Christians have long been the church’s “warm market.” They don’t have major obstacles to faith and are the most likely people to become committed believers. Yes, their exodus will purify the church. But, to continue with the marketing terms, when people are rushing to shed your label, it means you have a branding problem.... Continue Reading
Gay Marriage and the Future of Evangelical Colleges
Now that same-sex couples have the right to wed, will higher-ed institutions that condemn LGBT students still be eligible for federal funding?
“But as gay rights have gained wider acceptance over the past few years, many evangelical colleges have found themselves facing a predicament. Policies forbidding gay relationships have brought negative media attention and increasingly frustrated students, both of which could turn disastrous for religious colleges already struggling with tight budgets and uncertain futures.” Page 15... Christian Nonprofits Lose Appeals Court Challenge to Contraceptive Mandate
The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against several Christian nonprofits who sought to prove the government’s accommodation under the contraceptive and abortifacient mandate violated their First Amendment rights.
The accommodation requires nonprofits to fill out a form declining coverage for contraceptive and abortifacient drugs and allowing their insurance companies to issue coverage to their employees directly. The Affordable Care Act, adopted in March 2010, requires all group health plans to cover preventive services, including contraception, without employee cost sharing. “Contraception” includes drugs such... Sermon Preparation – It’s Not Just For The Preacher
Sermon preparation for those attending worship services means that they must prepare themselves to receive God’s Word.
Just as the pastor goes through sermon preparation for the effective ministry of the Word, so must the people—and in much the same way. While the pastor spends time in diligent study of the Word, he must also attend thereunto with diligence, preparation and prayer; receive it with faith and love, lay it up in... Continue Reading
5 Ways Mission Agencies Stretch the Truth
Many exaggerate the truth and undermine the good work God does in the world
“A popular book has a tag line on its front cover: “Tens of thousands Muslims are coming to faith.” The book outlines a new way to reach Muslims by reading the Bible in a way we have missed for years. Despite the hermeneutical wizardry in the book, the tag line should be the giveaway.” ... Continue Reading
