Covenant Presbyterian Church is involved with a specialized para-church organization in Alabama known s Discovery Clubs. Many of the church members volunteer weekly in this ministry. One volunteer, Karen Edwards, encourages others to get involved:
“Discovery Clubs is a ministry opportunity in public schools after regular school hours, showing and sharing the love of Christ with elementary-aged children. This is a faith-stretching, soul searching, often exhilarating and tiring, hugging, hands-on ministry. If you are looking for a ministry that requires about 2 hours weekly, then this is your chance to serve as an ambassador for Christ. For the most part, English is the only language skill required. Fellowship with other ‘missionaries’ is available every week. Boys and girls, all sizes and shapes, are hoping you will be there. Come! No experience is necessary.”
