2022 Proposals: The Case for Item 6 & Against Item 11
Item 6 deals with suspending someone’s rights before the completion of his judicial process. Item 11 deals with suspending someone’s rights after the completion of his judicial process in the lower court, but while the decision is under appeal.
Item 6 proposes a change that would better bring the rights of the various parties into balance by requiring a 2/3 vote to suspend the rights of someone who has been accused, but not yet found guilty. Item 11, on the other hand, would have the opposite effect. Requiring a 2/3 vote to suspend someone... Continue Reading
The Church’s Cosmic Mission
The Word of God provides us with a glorious picture of the grand, redemptive purpose God has given the Church.
From the human perspective, however, God is doing all of these amazing things through the message of the gospel. The Church, motivated by God’s glory and empowered by God’s grace, reaches out and impacts the lives of those around them by heralding the good news of what Jesus has done. According to his grace, God... Continue Reading
The LGBT Agenda is Trying to Destroy Children: Statistics Show it is Working
New data from Seattle Public Schools shows an 853% spike in students identifying as non-binary over only three years.
Some will grow out of identifying as “non-binary,” and will be able to do so far less painfully than a child who underwent sex change surgeries or took puberty blockers. But the underlying worldview — that I can be whoever I say I am and society is morally (and perhaps legally) obligated to positively affirm... Continue Reading
Jennie Faulding Taylor and Her Team of Brave Women
It was obvious that female missionaries – so opposed by some missionary agencies – had many opportunities that were denied to men, since Chinese women were much more eager to open their homes and their hearts to a woman than to a man.
Jennie’s team of female missionaries also set up centers for the elderly and a vocational school to prepare the orphaned girls to find occupations (at a time when education for women was limited in China). At the same time, Timothy Richard held regular worship services and trained the boys. The center taught the women to... Continue Reading
What is the Difference Between Men and Women?
Only the man and the woman together can fulfill that creational design.
God didn’t create another man, he created a woman—and yet she’s taken from the man. So there is a likeness and yet a fundamental difference and distinction. And everything about God’s design in this world must keep in mind this sexual differentiation between men and women, which is not an accident of creation, but from... Continue Reading
The Certain Progress of Sanctification
The Characteristics of this Progress
In spite of the fact that a Christian may backslide for a time and that remaining corruption may prevail, yet every true Christian will, ultimately, over the course his life, make progress in sanctification by means of the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit in His heart. Holiness will continue to be perfected in a... Continue Reading
Are We Genteel or Maśkîlîm (Dan 12:3, 10)?
Despite warnings from Christ and His Apostles, there seem always to be some in Christ’s church who simply deny reality.
Whether, then, we look within the church or outside of it, we in Christ’s church find good reason to prepare ourselves to speak truth. The Apostle Paul tells us how to prepare in Eph 4:12-16. Through the ministry of the word, we grow up into Christ; we attain the faith of an adult Christian (cf.... Continue Reading
Giving Priority to the LORD of Glory
Are Idols Really Worth the Cost?
It’s hard to give a defense for the faith that is within you if you can’t give up the things of the world in order to follow Christ. We show the world how we love Jesus a lot more by how we act and prioritize our life than what we say to them in words.... Continue Reading
Andrew Brunson: Don’t be Offended by Christ
The offense in my heart was strangling my relationship with God.
We don’t know how, when, or even if our difficulties will end. And this uncertainty tests our hearts. Some people have said to me that the main narrative of my imprisonment was trusting God. I’m not sure about that. Often when we talk about trust, we link it to an outcome. But I couldn’t find any... Continue Reading
I Belong (5): Comfort in the Visible Church
The visible church is a mixture of justified and condemned, righteous and unrighteous, saved and unsaved, sincere and hypocritical, etc.
Local churches are the visible expression of the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ on earth. King Jesus reigns over, rules, governs, cares for, and provides for his people in and through these churches. This is the visible church. Belonging to a local church is essential for you and me. It is a non-negotiable if... Continue Reading
